The storyline behind Beast Machines is that it picks up where Beast Wars left off, with Megatron strapped to the outside of an autobot shuttle, and the survivors of the Beast Wars (Optimal Optimus Primal, Blackarachnia, Cheetor, Rattrap, Rhinox, and Silverbolt) inside. What they find on Cybertron is something very different from what they left behind.
